A cottage of quintessential Australian charm.

Journey here.

The restoration of this century old home has been attended to by hand. Some elements renewed, others left in their imperfection with respect to the past.

As you wander through the rooms, notice the touch of a maker in every space. This is a place of holistic, refined design to encourage quietude.

A base to explore our wide open country.

we are custodians.

As local friends we‘ve spent years supporting one another in life and relationships — we love nothing more than honest conversations over good coffee, and planning deliberate experiences.

Our friendship was forged during the communal years of motherhood when we’d end up discussing the need for mindful, open door hospitality in our homes. Both of us share a common love for the Dutch heritage that shaped our concepts of cosy living.

Now we share the Repose with you.

“Imperfection is a reminder of the personal craftsmanship that shines in the uniqueness of each room.”

Built as accommodation for miners in the early 1900’s this quaint row of timber cottages was transported from Cobar in central NSW.

The high timber ceilings and original timber flooring have been restored by hand.

The long hallway has been installed with a row of reclaimed French windows and doors to welcome the light and breeze.

We have purposefully connected the ancient outhouse with a modern walkway leading to a luxury crafted bathroom and the utterly private courtyard.

Dine

Our in house breakfast offering is complimentary, freshly prepared for slow moments in the sun drenched courtyard or living areas. Enjoy a selection of sourdough, butter, local honey, preserves, artisan yoghurt and custom made Gluten free Granola. Enjoy pouring a pot of freshly ground coffee or the selection of loose leaf teas.

“The Repose is truly special! The kitchen kitted out with everything a gourmet chef could ask for and beautiful ambient lighting, candles and special touches everywhere you look. Can’t recommend highly enough.”

— Sophie Hanson, author and cook

Sleep

Each of our guest bedrooms feature a quality pillowtop queen mattress, 100% European linen sheets and a selection of feather and man-made fibre pillows to ensure you have the best night’s sleep. Block out blinds hide behind the custom linen curtains so that the day begins when you want it to.

“The Repose is pure bliss. On arrival our cares drifted away and for a few brief days we were able to nestle into our carefully curated surroundings.”

Soak

Luxuriate here. Enjoy the sensory experience of the complimentary Aesop amenities by candlelight. Proudly on display as you first step inside The Repose is our beautiful feature bathroom. Discovered tucked away in an ambient corner, the original iron claw foot bath has been resurfaced, reclaimed and now awaits you.

“Roaring fire, no TV, great wine and long soaks in the tub. Heavenly.”

Connect

A space where modern luxuries reflect craftsmanship and curated artisan touches restore the senses. When the day draws to an end, relax in the pure comfort of the linen lounge. Enjoy your favourite tunes carrying through the space through the Marshall Bluetooth speaker located on the floating shelves in the lounge room.

“The open patio became our meeting place where we connected over meals under the stars.”

Wander

There’s a whisper of days gone by, a hint to the romance of a traveller’s life in the memories stirred here. The cottage garden provides comfort and leafy greenery, meandering brick paths, and an original tin shed preserving links to the past.

It’s hard to resist staying in, watching the sky slowly fade, open fire roar, and the stars appear over head in the private courtyard at the heart of the Repose.

“Instantly calming and relaxing, The Repose is a magical place.”

Explore

Our favourite destination experience would be to plan a few days to take in the region. Explore the Taronga Western Plains Zoo, the Royal Flying Doctor exhibition centre, picnic on the grounds of the historic homestead Dundullimal, kayaking along the Macquarie River, glimpse the Saddler & Co workshop in action, coffee and brunch at Press, woodfired pizza from the local Brewery, dessert and cocktails at The Establishment - and of course, taking a road trip via the surrounding country towns for more regional shopping and experiences.

“There is so much to discover in Dubbo and surrounds - we could easily have spent a few more days here. Planning the next visit already.”

“Brilliant. Beautiful. Restful. Tranquil. Awesome touches. If anyone needs more than this I’d be surprised. Wonderful hosts and hospitality. Highly recommended.”

– Keiran
